Who We Are
Kenya Muslim women alliance (KEMWA) is a Non-partisan, Non-profit making and Non-governmental organization (NGO) based in Mombasa, Kenya whose objective is to promote good governance, social and economic development towards society wellbeing. KEMWA was officially launched in 2010 in the aim of addressing the difficulties that are facing women in the coastal region and promoting their rights. Since then, KEMWA has been an umbrella body that brings together various national and regional organizations in conveying relatable societal problems and solutions. Over the past 9 years, we have worked to empower women in decision making process and fighting gender-based violence.
What We Do

Women excellence programme.
Kenya Muslim women alliance has been the backbone of women excellence programs and initiatives with the aim of setting national and international standards towards achieving gender equality.

Youth initiatives programs.
Youth are the core foundations in societies and nations at large. Youth play critical roles in building the growth and developments of communities, while youths provide multiple contributions to societies.

Community growth work programs.
Looking through KEMWAâs vision: Empowering society with sustainable leadership structures and development agenda. We mobilize our coastal community in using their social structures and resources.

Widows of terror suspects tell of agony
âMy husband was killed in Somalia. I do not know how or where he was killed or by whom yet I am told to acquire his death certificate. How do I get that?â she wondered.
